DC CHORAL INTENSIVE - SPRING WORKSHOP & CONCERT

 The DC Choral Intensive will be running its third choral workshop from April 24 to May 12, with a final concert at 2:00 p.m. on Mother's Day, May 12, at Unchagah Hall. 

 The May 12 Mother's Day Concert will feature the world premiere of a new choral commission by Canadian composer Dr. Matthew Emery entitled "The Garden of Dreams" written specially for the occasion! Choirs will be joined by students from the DCSS Musical Theatre program and special guest soloist, soprano Sawyer Craig.

 Concert ticket proceeds will be donated entirely to charity, split between the Jackie Da Ros Award for graduating students of School District No. 59 and breast cancer research initiatives.

 Youth Choir for ages 10 and up, Adult Choir for ages 16 and up. Registration $50 - Register via e-mail to dcchoralintensive@gmail.com 

Inspiring the Future: Make Your Voice Heard

School District 59 is one of a group of local organizations working alongside the City of Dawson Creek Mayor's Office as part of a Youth Round Table. The focus of this group is to spread more information about programs and services available for youth in our community. The group is looking for input from children and youth in Dawson Creek through a quick online survey. The information collected in this survey will be used to guide the decisions of this specific group moving forward.

Please take some time and have your child/youth answer 4 quick questions about their interests and where they access information about activities in Dawson Creek (or answer the questions with your child depending on age). The survey is for children/youth from ages 6-19.

April Newsletter

Dear Parent(s) and Guardian(s),

 I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend. As the weather is getting nicer, we are starting to notice more students returning late from lunch. This causes disruptions in learning for our students. If you could please chat with your child(ren) about the importance of being on time, it would be appreciated. 

 We have also been asked that students do not enter some of our local businesses during school hours. They are ok to be there at lunch, but not during class time. Students in some cases may be asked to leave places if they are there during class time without an adult present. 

 Here are some of the things happening at DCSS Central Campus this week!

 Monday April 13th

  • Team Visit to Pouce Coupe Elementary in the am. 
  • Badminton 3-4:30pm

 Tuesday April 16th

  • Track 3:30-4:45pm at Central

 Wednesday April 17th

  • Team Visit to Notre Dame in the am.
  • Badminton 3-4:30pm
  • Throwing practice at SPSS 3:30-4:45pm

 Thursday April 18th

  • Team Visit to Crescent Park am.
  • Track 3:30-4:45pm at Central

 Friday April 19th

  • 9:15-10:15am Grade 8 Safer School’s Presentation in CRC
  • 11:10 am Fire Drill
  • 12:30-1:30 Grade 9 Safer School’s Presentation in the CRC

 April 25th at 7:00pm is the parent meeting for all new grade 8’s attending Central.  

 Snap Math Assessment- District wide assessment will be happening in May at Central.

June 10-12 Musical Theatre Play at SPSS for Central Students to attend. 

June 13 and 14th Metis Bev coming to do Jigging with PE classes.

June 21st Grad at SPSS

June 24 and 25 – Grade 9’s go to SPSS

June 27th Last day for students

Central students had a great time on their trip over spring break.  Please let Ms. Groff know if your grade 8 child would like to participate in next year's adventure.

Erase is all about building safe and caring school communities. This includes empowering students, parents, educators and the community partners who support them to get help with challenges, report concerns to schools, and learn about complex issues facing students.
