Start up Information

Due to the uncertainty surrounding the start of the school year there are a couple of pieces of information students and parents need to be aware of.

1. Lockers will be available on the first day of classes.

2. We will start timetable changes on the first day of classes.

3. Picture days are scheduled to be held on September 3rd and 4th. If school does not start on the 3rd then those dates will be rescheduled.

4. Please stay tuned to our district website www.sd59.bc.ca and media outlets for the latest information regarding the job action.

Passports to Education

Passports to Education for our grade 12 students have been mailed home today.  In the envelope you will find the passport, criteria for selection and forms to help with redemption.

Dual Credit Information

Dual Credit Students,
 
If you are enrolled in a Dual Credit program that is continuing or starting in September 2014 your program is continuing as scheduled.  If you have any questions please contact Frances Armstrong - Career Programs Coordinator, at the Board Office 250-782-8571.

Grad DVD Update

Grad and Exam Information

Exam Information
- The entrance to the Provincial Exams is the entrance on the north side of the building.  Please use the alley way on the north side to get dropped off and picked up.
- If you are driving yourself please park at the back of the school near the learning hub.
 
 
Grad Information
- Grand March practice on Thursday June 19th @ 10:00am at the Encana Events Center.  Please use entrance A on the south side of the building
- Grad gowns will be distributed to students at the practice tomorrow.

About LearnNowBC’s Free Tutoring Services

 


The Live Tutor service is free to all students in BC. Five days per week (from Sundays to Thursdays), students can connect one-on-one with live tutors for free 20-minute online tutoring sessions. Using a combination of virtual whiteboards and text & audio chat, our tutors work with the students to provide course-specific assistance. Usually offered from 6pm to 10pm, we have expanded hours until June 23rd: 4pm to 10pm. Students must have a free LearnNowBC Student account to access the free tutoring services.

 


LearnNowBC also offers ChargedUP for Math, Science & English, a streaming video lesson service that provides grade 9-12 students with complete video lessons for 16 Math, Science and English courses. ChargedUP for Math, Science and English is available 24/7.

 


Success Checker is a set of online assessments for 21 grade 9, 10, 11 and 12 courses. Students receive detailed reports of their performance and custom study guides to help direct their study time more efficiently. Success Checker is available 24/7.


Monday Update for Students

A reminder to students that there are provincial exam study groups set up at both the Central and South Peace Campuses.
Central Campus - Please use the entrance across from the public library
- Math 10 study session 9:00am - 11:00am
- Science 10 study session 1:00pm - 3:00pm
 
South Peace Campus - Unchagah entrance
- English 10 study sesssion 9:00am - 11:00am
- Social Studies 11 study session 1:00pm - 3:00pm
 
If students haven't cleaned out their lockers yet you are asked to please come in this morning and clean you locker out.  Lockers that haven't been cleaned out yet will be emptied today by custodial staff.  Goods collected from lockers will be bagged and avaliable for pickup from either campus today.
 

Grad List Update

Grads ... are you on the list?
The Grad list is close to being finalized and our goal is to have the grad list completed by the end of the day on Tuesday June 3rd.  Staff will be working with students early next week to finalize this list.

Shrek the Musical

The Musical Theatre class of Dawson Creek Secondary School invites you to attend their spring performance of Shrek.  Come out and enjoy the story of Shrek and Fiona as the students sing and dance their way through this fairytale.  The public performances will be;
 
Thursday June 5th
Friday June 6th
Saturday June 7th.
 
All performances start at 7:00pm and take place in Unchaga Hall at the South Peace Campus.  Tickets are $20 and are avaliable at Shoppers Drug Mart.  Extra tickets may be avaliable at the door.
